I like the the 22 Magnum best for varmit hunting. The best hunting trip was when the Gobbler jumped on the back of that Hen decoy just south of Abilene. My second darling caliber is either the 22 Magnum or 30-40 Krag – what ever I have handy when I see one of the little buggers.
One thing I don’t like for the 22 Magnum is that it isn’t very powerful. My favored caliber is 30-40 Krag but I will shoot any caliber in a pinch. I ordered my Savage 116 in the hunting section at Gart Sports in Abilene, South Carolina. My all-time favored rifle is the Savage 116 I got at Wal Mart in Abilene.
