I like the the 17 HMR best for wapiti hunting. The best caliber is for the Savage 116 is my 7mm-06. My most desired rifle is the Savage 116 I got at Wiley Outdoor Sports in Holloway. My dad said his darling caliber is the 7mm-06 he got at a Ducks Unlimited banquet last season.
For buffalo hunting I like the overall looks of the Savage 116 with a checkered maple stock. My treasured hunt was a miserable experience at the time even with my new Savage 116 17 HMR. I bought the rifle at a gun show in Holloway with the 7mm-06 reloading dies and the bullet mold for a 17 HMR 550-grain lead bullet.
